DLSA Reasi organises series of programs to promote legal awareness

REASI, JANUARY 20(PTK): Under the visionary leadership of Chairman, (also Pr. District and Sessions Judge Reasi) Khalil Ahmad Choudhary and Secretary Pooja Gupta, the District Legal Services Authority Reasi organised a series of legal awareness and promotional events across the District.
An essay writing competition on the topic “Globalization” was held at Government Higher Secondary School to enhance awareness among students about the concept, its impact on society, economy, culture and the rule of law and to encourage critical thinking and creative expression among young minds.
A large number of students participated enthusiastically and expressed their views on both the positive and challenging aspects of globalization through their essays.
An awareness program on “Children in conflict with Law and Children in Need of care and protection” was organised at Model Legal Literacy Club-Katra.
Assistant LADC, Bhumika Rajput was the resource person. The awareness session aimed to sensitize children and participants to the provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care and protection of children) Act, the rights and responsibilities of children and the role of various stakeholders in ensuring their protection, rehabilitation and social reintegration.
Detailed information was shared regarding the legal safeguards available to children in conflict with law and children in need of care and protection, the functioning of the juvenile Justice Board and Child Welfare Committee and importance of timely legal aid and counselling.
A poster making competition on the theme “Say No to Drug” was organized at Legal Literacy Club Kotla with the objective of creating awareness among students and youth about the harmful effects of drug abuse and to encourage them to adopt a healthy, drug free lifestyle.
Meanwhile, Door to door awareness programs on Alternate Dispute Resolution was conducted in Mahore. The PLVS spread awareness among the general public, particularly the marginalized and vulnerable sections regarding the benefits of mediation as an effective Alternate Dispute Resolution mechanism. The participants were also informed about the role of Legal Services Authorities in providing free legal aid and assistance to eligible persons.(PTK)
