DLSA Reasi hosts students’ awareness programme on Anti Ragging Laws in Boys GHSS

PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR REASI, AUGUST 24: As per the Action Plan/Calendar for the month of August, 2022, issued by the J&K Legal Services Authority and under able guidance and supervision of R. N. Watal, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Reasi today organized an awareness program on “Anti Ragging Laws” for the students of Government Higher Secondary School (Boys) Reasi. Panel Advocates, Ajay Salalia and Ajeet Singh were the resource persons in the program. They enlightened the students about the laws of the country with respect to ragging and how it affects the life of the victim and the victimizer. The program was attended by the Faculty members and students of Government Higher Secondary School (Boys), Reasi. The objective of organizing this awareness camp was to create awareness about ragging & to ensure a student-friendly environment at all times.

Besides this, the District Legal Services also organized an awareness program on NALSA (Victim of Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation) Scheme, 2015 and on POCSO, Act for the students of Government Higher Secondary School (Girls,) Reasi. Advocates Rashi Baru and Shazia Akhter Punjabi were the resource persons in the program.

 Shazia Akhter Punjabi spoke on the provisions of The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 along with its Amendments and also the concept of ‘Good Touch and Bad Touch’ in a simple and dignified manner and Child Helpline No: 1098 was also shared with the participants in all the program.

The program was attended by the Faculty members and students of Government Higher Secondary School Girls, Reasi. The objective of organizing this awareness camp was to spread awareness about the issues related to Sexual Exploitation wherein they were asked to spread the awareness of the POCSO ACT as maximum as possible in their neighbourhoods.
