Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Commends Soldiers’ Courage During Siachen Visit

NEW DELHI :Defence Minister Rajnath Singh undertook a significant visit to Siachen, the world’s highest battlefield, to assess India’s military preparedness in the region. Accompanied by Army Chief Gen Manoj Pande, Singh reviewed the security situation and interacted with soldiers deployed in the challenging terrain.

 

During his visit, Singh expressed admiration for the soldiers’ dedication and professionalism, acknowledging their sacrifices in safeguarding the nation under harsh conditions. He emphasized the importance of their service in ensuring the safety of every citizen and praised their bravery in the face of extreme weather conditions.

 

Singh highlighted the historic significance of Siachen, referring to it as a symbol of India’s sovereignty and determination. He compared it to the capitals of other domains like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, stating that Siachen represents courage, grit, and determination.

 

The visit coincided with the recent commemoration of the 40th anniversary of Operation Meghdoot, a pivotal moment in India’s military history. Singh hailed the operation’s success, emphasizing its significance in securing the Siachen Glacier and reaffirming India’s control over the region.

 

Paying tribute to fallen heroes, Singh laid a wreath at the Siachen War Memorial, honoring those who made the supreme sacrifice in service to the nation. The solemn gesture underscored the resilience and commitment of India’s armed forces.

 

In a historic move, Captain Shiva Chauhan became the first woman Army officer to be deployed at a frontline post in Siachen Glacier last year, marking a significant milestone in India’s military operations.
