DDC Anantnag Holds Block Diwas at Srigufwara, Assures Time-Bound Redressal of Public Grievances

Anantnag, June 3 (PTK): District Development Commissioner (DDC) Anantnag, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, on Tuesday convened a Block Diwas-cum-Grievance Redressal Camp at Tehsil Office Srigufwara, where he interacted with local residents and assured prompt resolution of genuine public issues.

The outreach programme was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) and Tehsildar Bijbehara, Block Development Officer (BDO), officials from Health, Education, R&B, PDD, PHE, I&FC, Agriculture, Horticulture, Banking and other departments, besides former PRI members, civil society representatives and members of the public.

During the interaction, residents raised a range of issues concerning road connectivity and widening, healthcare services, educational infrastructure, tourism promotion, drinking water and electricity supply, lift irrigation facilities, public transport services, telecom connectivity in upper reaches, compensation for crop losses caused by adverse weather, relocation of government offices, encroachment on state land, rural sanitation and pending MGNREGA wages.

Giving a patient hearing to the grievances, the DDC assured the public that all genuine issues would be addressed on priority. He stated that major concerns would be taken up with higher authorities while local issues would be resolved in a time-bound manner by the concerned departments.

Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat also issued on-the-spot directions to officials for immediate redressal of several public grievances and stressed the need for efficient, transparent and hassle-free service delivery.

Addressing the gathering, he said that public welfare remains the foremost responsibility of the district administration and such outreach programmes help authorities understand local aspirations and identify developmental priorities.

The DDC also directed revenue authorities to take immediate action on grievances related to land access, encroachments and other revenue matters highlighted by the residents during the camp.

At the conclusion of the programme, he emphasized the need for conducting similar public outreach camps on a regular basis and assured the people that the administration would continue engaging directly with citizens in the future.

Local residents and civil society members appreciated the initiative and expressed hope that such programmes would continue regularly to address public issues and accelerate development in the area.

Following the Block Diwas, the DDC visited the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Srigufwara to review healthcare facilities and services being provided to the public. He inspected various sections of the health institution and interacted with doctors, healthcare staff and patients to assess the functioning of the facility.

He directed the hospital staff to strictly adhere to duty rosters and ensure smooth delivery of healthcare services to patients.

Later, Dr. Bhat visited Higher Secondary School (HSS) Srigufwara to assess its functioning and review the educational environment. He interacted with students and teachers and sought their feedback regarding educational facilities and learning outcomes.

While addressing students, the DDC encouraged them to focus on education and sports and advised them to channel their energy into productive activities to achieve their career goals and become responsible citizens.

During an interactive question-and-answer session, he motivated students to explore diverse career opportunities according to their interests and capabilities.(PTK)
