DC Ganderbal inspects restoration works of wetlands in the district

PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR GANDERBAL, JULY 25: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir today took an extensive tour of Wakura block and inspected the restoration works of Wetlands.

During the visit, the DC visited WaskuraSar, AahanSar, Khansar besides several pond sites in Wakura Block to have first-hand appraisal of the management of these water bodies.

While inspecting the management of these wetlands, the ACD Ganderbal briefed the DC about the restoration and beautification plan of these wetlands.

The DC directed the ACD to undertake desiltation and deweeding works on war footing besides make necessary beautification plans like bio fencing and development of eco-friendly view points and paths to restore these wetlands to past glory.

While ascertaining the physical condition of the water bodies, the DC directed the ACD that management plan for these wetlands shall be formulated containing all components to restore these wetlands to the pristine glory which will not only add to the aquatic and avifaunal diversity of the lakes but shall also enhance tourism potential of these areas.

Among others the DC was accompanied by ACD, Dr. Bashir Ahmad; BDO and other officials of Rural development.
