Contaminated water to Muqam Budgam alarming: Kadfeen

 

Tours various areas of hamlet, urges Govt to intervene

Srinagar: (PTK) Congress leader Kadfeen Choudhary on Wednesday urged upon the administration to address the mounting water scarcity and issue of contaminated water being supplied to the local inhabitants of central Kashmir’s Muqaam area, Budgam.

Travelling to various areas of HaiMuqaam, Budgam, the Congress leader was appraised by the people about the plethora of hardships they face to fetch drinking water and how the supply of highly contaminated water in the hamlet has become a new norm for the government.

Kadfeen was also informed that the water filtration plant installed by the government years ago is lying defunct and the contaminated water is being supplied to the households due to which there are mounting fears of an outbreak of an epidemic in the area. The locals also highlighted how the government has been turning blind eye toward such crises and is not paying any heed to the repeated pleas of the locals who demand supply of safe drinking water.

Kadfeen expressed serious concern over an unprecedented spike of ailment cases with locals battling various diseases in absence of safe drinking water.

He urged upon the administration to ensure functioning of the filtration plant in the area and stop without delay the supply of impure water to the inhabitants.  (Ptk)
