Budgam Police Cricket League inaugurated.
BUDGAM: 16th December 2021(PTK):Budgam Cricket League, being organised by Budgam police was inaugurated at sports stadium Budgam today. The event was declared open by ASP Budgam Gowher Ahmad Khan-JKPS. The inaugural match was played between KGI Chadoora and NCC Narbal. After winning the toss, NCC Narbal chose to bat and scored 241 in alloted 20 overs. In reply KGI chadoora managed to score only 99 Runs in 14 overs.
NCC Narbal won by 142 runs. Aamir Malla of NCC Narbal was declared as Man of the match for his 76 runs and a 1 wicket.
At the inaugural ceremony, ASP Budgam during his address said that the event is aimed at promoting sports amongst youth in the district to positively engage them and provide them with a platform to identify talented players who can excel at State and National levels. He further said that Sports also foster a healthy spirit of competition, discipline and will to excel amongst youth driving them to work hard. Cricket also binds students irrespective of caste, colour, creed and religion, thus promoting social and communal harmony.
16 teams from various areas of the Budgam district are participating in the tournament.
The district police is also organising a Cycling Race on 18th December. The race will originate from Budgam and finish at Doodhipatri. Both boys and girls above the age of 16 years are eligible for participation in the event.
The people of the area hailed the efforts of Budgam Police and hoped that these steps will help in giving a boost to the development of sports in Budgam and also foster social harmony amongst youth. :-PTK
