Boat Capsize: Body of Missing Youth Retrieved from Dal Lake

Srinagar, May 3 (PTK) – The body of a 24-year-old youth who went missing after a fishing boat capsized in Dal Lake near Duck Park on Friday afternoon was recovered early Saturday by teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).

Officials informed PTK News that the deceased, identified as Taufeeq Ahmad Chopan from Chopan Mohalla, Rainawari, was located after search operations resumed at daybreak. The operation had been halted overnight due to low visibility and difficult conditions.

The tragic incident unfolded when strong winds caused the boat carrying two fishermen to overturn. One of the men, Abdul Majeed Khosa, also a resident of Rainawari, was rescued shortly after the mishap. However, despite extensive efforts throughout Friday, Chopan remained untraced until Saturday morning.

SDRF personnel, assisted by local agencies, carried out a coordinated search operation which led to the recovery of the body. The Rainawari locality is in mourning following the loss of the young fisherman, who was well known in the area. (PTK)
