Bandipora rape, Mehbooba bats for Sharia law; says ‘paedophiles should be stoned to death’

Srinagar, (PTK): While condemning the horrific rape of a 3-year-old girl in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district, former CM Mehbooba Mufti called for the accused to be stoned to death. Taking to her Twitter handle Mufti said in times like these Sharia laws seems apt so that such paedophiles can be stoned to death.

While the Jammu and Kashmir Police constituted a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the ghastly incident protesters blocked the Srinagar-Baramulla highway demanding punishment on a fast-track basis. The police had to use tear smoke shells to disperse the angry protesters at the Srinagar-Baramulla highway.

In 2016, Indonesia passed laws authorising chemical castration, minimum sentences and execution for convicted paedophiles. The decision was taken by President Joko Widodo after the gang rape and murder of a 14-year-old girl.

Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Mauritania, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and Yemen are the countries that follow Sharia law.
