Awantipora Police Registers First-Ever e-FIR Following Complaint Lodged via Email
Press Trust of Kashmir | Srinagar :- In a significant advancement towards digital policing, the Awantipora Police in Jammu and Kashmir have registered their first electronic First Information Report (e-FIR) following a complaint lodged via email. This milestone underscores the integration of technology within law enforcement to facilitate more efficient and accessible justice delivery.
The complaint was filed by Mushtaq Ahmed Bhat, a resident of New Colony Khrew, against Adil Ahmad Bhat and Bilal Ahmad Bhat, also from New Colony Khrew. In response, the Khrew Police Station promptly registered the e-FIR, marking a pivotal shift towards embracing digital tools in policing.
This development aligns with the broader trend in Jammu and Kashmir, where law enforcement agencies are increasingly adopting digital platforms to enhance their services. For instance, the Vilgam Police Station in Handwara recently registered an e-FIR based on a complaint received via WhatsApp.
The successful implementation of e-FIRs signifies a transformative change in the region’s policing methods, aiming to provide citizens with more streamlined and accessible avenues for lodging complaints.(PTK).
