Army Trooper Succumbs to Injuries After Encounter in Kulgam

Srinagar, July 6: An army trooper who was critically injured in an initial exchange of fire in Kulgam succumbed to his injuries in a hospital on Saturday.

A top police officer confirmed that the soldier, who sustained critical injuries during the initial exchange of fire, unfortunately passed away while receiving treatment.

Earlier in the day, an exchange of fire erupted between militants and security forces in the Mudergham area of Kulgam. The encounter followed a specific input received by the security forces regarding the presence of militants in the region.

As of the time this report was filed, the operation in Mudergham was still underway.
