Army Chief Gen Dwivedi Visits Japan to Enhance Defence Ties

NEW DELHI, Oct 14: Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi has embarked on a four-day visit to Japan, aimed at strengthening defence cooperation between India and Japan. The visit, from October 14 to 17, marks a significant step in enhancing military ties between the two nations, according to the Ministry of Defence.
During his visit, Gen Dwivedi will meet Japan’s senior military leadership, including Gen Yoshida Yoshihide, Chief of Staff of the Joint Self Defence Force, and Gen Morishita Yasunori, Chief of Staff of the Japan Ground Self-Defence Force (JGSDF). The talks are expected to focus on deepening military collaboration and exploring new avenues for cooperation.
The Army Chief will also visit Hiroshima Peace Park, where he will pay tribute to the victims of the atomic bombing and offer floral tributes at Mahatma Gandhi’s statue. His itinerary includes a visit to the Fuji School and interactions with Lt. Gen Kodama Yasuyuki, Commanding General of the School.
This visit signifies India’s growing defence relations with Japan, reflecting shared security interests in the Indo-Pacific region.
