Air India Mumbai-New York Flight Diverted to Delhi After Bomb Threat

A New York-bound Air India flight, AI119, with 239 passengers on board, was diverted to Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Monday due to a bomb threat, officials reported. The plane was en route from Mumbai to JFK Airport in New York when it received the security alert.

 

After landing in Delhi, all passengers safely disembarked, and the aircraft underwent a thorough security check. “The aircraft is stationed at the Delhi airport, and all necessary safety protocols are being followed,” said a senior police officer.

 

The bomb threat was reportedly received through a tweet, which authorities are currently investigating.

 

Air India confirmed the diversion, citing government security guidelines. In its statement, the airline emphasized that passenger safety is its top priority. Ground staff in Delhi are working to minimize inconvenience for affected passengers.
