Srinagar, June 29(PTK):District Administration and District Development Council (DDC) Chairman Srinagar, SMC Mayor and DDC member Er Aijaz Hussain today welcomed the first batch of Amarnath pilgrims at Yatri Niwas Pantha Chowk, Srinagar and assured them all possible support.

Senior officials from the administration, led by DC Srinagar Aijaz Asad, DDC vice chairman Bilal Ahmed and SSP Srinagar Rakesh Balwal were also present on the occasion. Adminstartion expects record number of 8 lakh pilgrims this year.

The district administration welcomed the pilgrims with open heart and interacted with them. The district administration shared information about the facilities available for the pilgrims, helpline numbers and availability of transport facilities for the pilgrims. The pilgrims shared their experience stating that this year a record number of devotees are expected to arrive in Kashmir to have glimpse of lord Shiva.

Speaking on the occasion, DDC member Er Aijaz while welcoming the pilgrims assured them all hospitality and facilities in Srinagar and elsewhere at base camps. SMC Mayor Junaid Azim Matoo also extended full support to pilsgrims on behalf of SMC.the officials from Srinagar administration and DDC members promised hassle free stay of pilgrims in Srinagar. Later, DC Srinagar aijaz Asad, DDC vice chairman Bilal Ahmed, Dr Aijaz Hussain visited the Yatri Niawaz to take stock of facilities and alao visited Langar facility as well.

The annual pilgrimage will officially commence from tomorrow.:-PTK.
