Anantnag,05 August: In this peak summer, the condition of patients at GMC Anantnag becomes miserable as the air conditioners (ACs) installed in the Causality ward are not working, leaving patients and attendants in a miserable condition and suffering a lot.

With temperatures soaring, one can imagine the plight of patients and attendants in the hospital. Patients admitted to the Causality ward at GMC Anantnag are the worst-hit, as the ACs installed in the Causality ward are not working, with the maximum temperature this year hovering between 32 to 34 degrees Celsius.

Abdul Rasheed, an attendant, told Press Trust of Kashmir (PTK) that there are several ACs installed in the Causality ward, but all are non-functional, and nobody is bothered to solve the issue.

Another attendant, accompanying a patient, said, “Even a normal person might feel sick in the Causality ward after standing here for a long time. I have started getting palpitations after standing in humid conditions. The smell of medicines, coupled with the heat inside, has made me feel uneasy.”

The attendants of the patients are requesting the Hospital Administration to look into the matter and make the ACs functional in GMC Anantnag.

Meanwhile, Dr. Muzaffar Sherwani, Superintendent of GMC Anantnag, told Press Trust of Kashmir (PTK) that the ACs installed in the Causality ward will be functional within one week. He attributed the issue to mistakes made during the installation process. “We have already given powers to the Mechanical wing for maintenance in GMC Anantnag. Previously, the Mechanical wing was only dealing with the oxygen plant in GMC Anantnag. Now, we have ordered them to look into the matter as soon as possible, and hopefully, the ACs installed in the Causality ward will be functional very soon.”
