GMC Anantnag Achieves Milestone: 50 Free Pacemaker Implants in One Year

Anantnag 13 July :The cardiology team led by Dr. Showkat Hussain and Mohd Shameem Iqbal at GMC Anantnag has successfully carried out 50 dual-chamber pacemaker implantation procedures in the past year. This milestone achievement has not only brought acclaim to GMC Anantnag but also to the entire South Kashmir region, including the Peer Panchal region.Speaking to the Press Trust of Kashmir (PTK), official sources said that GMC Anantnag has introduced the advanced and high-tech facility of pacemaker implantation, showcasing their dedication to enhancing healthcare services with limited resources. These life-saving procedures were conducted under the Ayushman Bharat (Golden Card) facility, making them accessible to patients free of cost.According to the doctors, in the private sector, such procedures can cost up to 4 to 5 lakh rupees. However, at GMC Anantnag, these 50 dual-chamber pacemaker implantation procedures were done free of cost under the Ayushman Bharat facility.
