Alleged Corporal Punishment: Teacher Suspended, Under Inquiry

 

SRINAGAR : The Chief Education Officer of Kupwara has taken action against a teacher, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, allegedly involved in corporal punishment against students at GMS Surigam.

 

According to an official order provided to the News Agency Press Trust of Kashmir, Mr. Bashir Ahmad Bhat, a teacher at GMS Surigam, has been placed under suspension with immediate effect pending an inquiry into his conduct. He has been attached to MS Dardpora during this period.

 

The order further states that the Principal of BHSS Songam has been directed to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. They have been asked to submit a detailed report along with their comments and recommendations within one month. This report will enable the office to proceed further with the case.

 

The allegations of corporal punishment against students are serious and demand immediate attention. The suspension of the teacher and the initiation of an inquiry reflect the authorities’ commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of students in educational institutions.
