Ramadan Begins Tomorrow in Kashmir as Moon Sighted
10-Member Committee Unanimously Decides First Day of Fasting
The eagerly awaited holy month of Ramadan is set to commence tomorrow in Kashmir, as the crescent moon marking the beginning of the month has been sighted.
In a significant decision, a 10-member committee comprising esteemed figures such as Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Moulana Rehmatullah, and other Islamic scholars unanimously determined that the first day of the fasting month will be Tuesday in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to official sources, Ramadan 1445/2024 will begin on 12th March 2024. The announcement came after credible sightings of the Ramadan moon were reported from various locations across the region.
For Muslims in the area, Ramadan signifies a time of spiritual growth, reflection, and devotion. As the first day of fasting approaches, communities are gearing up to observe the rituals and traditions associated with this sacred month.
In addition to fasting from dawn to dusk, Muslims will engage in acts of charity, prayer, and self-discipline throughout the month. Taraweeh prayers, special nightly congregational prayers, will also commence in the Two Holy Mosques after Isha prayers, further enhancing the spiritual atmosphere of Ramadan.
As Kashmir prepares to welcome Ramadan, the faithful are poised to embark on a journey of self-improvement, community bonding, and drawing closer to the divine.
Team Press Trust of Kashmir extends its warm wishes to its readers and subscribers on the occasion of the commencement of the holy month of Ramadhan.
