Another Mobile Phone Intercepted at Kot Bhalwal Jail

JAMMU : Central Jail Kot Bhalwal faces yet another security breach as CISF authorities intercepted a mobile phone from a detainee under the Public Safety Act (PSA), sparking concerns about the efficacy of security measures within the facility.

 

This marks the third such incident this year, according to official sources , highlighting serious lapses in security protocols. Earlier occurrences on January 1, 2024, and January 10, 2024, saw the confiscation of mobile devices from the jail premises, raising alarms about unauthorized communication within the high-security facility.

 

The recent discovery, made on Monday evening, involved the retrieval of a mobile phone from PSA detainee Ranju Choudhary, a resident of Arnia, Jammu, as confirmed by SHO Gharota, Arjun Magotra.

 

“The Samsung Galaxy device, containing a damaged Vodafone SIM card, has been promptly forwarded to the Cyber Cell for detailed examination, indicating the gravity of the situation,” stated the police officer, underscoring the severity of the breach.

 

Authorities have initiated further investigations to determine the extent of the security breach and take necessary measures to prevent future occurrences. The recurrence of such incidents underscores the urgent need for stringent security measures within Central Jail Kot Bhalwal to safeguard the integrity of the facility and ensure the safety of inmates and staff.
