SRINAGAR (PTK): On the day before Eid (Arfa), despite heavy rainfall, the markets in Kashmir Valley were bustling with activity as shoppers flocked to major markets to make purchases for the festival.

In central Kashmir, a large number of customers were seen visiting bakery shops, mutton outlets, chicken vendors, readymade garments, and crockery stores.

While there is still some interest in shopping among the people, it is not as strong as it was in previous years, according to a shopkeeper named Sajad Ahmad.

Meanwhile, people who were out and about expressed their unhappiness with the significant increase in prices of goods on the eve of Eid.

A local resident, Mh Maqbool Mir from Kangan area in central Kashmir, mentioned that many people were dissatisfied due to the decline in business compared to the previous year.

Sellers from Rajouri, Poonch, and even Delhi and Rajasthan have brought their flocks of sheep and goats to sell in various parts of the Valley.

During Eid al-Adha, the commemoration of a story mentioned in the Quran, in which the Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham in the biblical tradition) was commanded by God to sacrifice his son Ismail, sheep, goats, and cows are traditionally sacrificed.
