Zaindar Mohalla Habba Kadal stage protest against shortage of water

Press Trust of Kashmir |Srinagar :  The residents of Zaindar Mohalla in Habba Kadal area of Srinagar district Friday staged a protest against the authorities for failing to provide potable water to the residents.

The residents assembled on the raised slogans against the authorities and staged a sit-in, protest.

The protestors said that they were facing acute water scarcity for the past several months but authorities have failed to take step in this regard.

We have facing shortage of water since last several months but authorities are working as mere spectators, they said, adding that they will continue their protests if authorities failed in providing drinking water in this regard.

Presently we are using water of hand pumps which is highly contaminated due to which all children, adults mainly elders have fell ill, they said

We met all the concerned officers and highlighted our issues several times but nothing was done,” protestors said.

They requested higher ups to look into the matter and take immediate steps in this regard so that this area will get potable water.:-PTK.
