JKAP concerns over shortage of doctors at D H Bandipora
Bandipora, 10 Jan (PTK) : Zonal President of Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party Ghulam Hassan Lone today accused J&K administration of failing to provide proper medical facilities in District Hospital Bandipora.
In a press release issued here to Press trust of Kashmir (PTK), Lone expressed concern over the problems being faced by the people of Bandipora district.
He said that District Hospital Bandipora is facing dearth of staff, necessary infrastructure and equipment’s, alleging that due to lack of doctors, paramedical staff the patents admitted in the hospital or those coming for treatment from far off places of the district are facing many hardships.
“Sometimes even patients die due to lack of proper care as the Hospital is running short of staff resulting into public resentment and protests”, Lone said.
“For specialist consultation the patients are having to go to Srinagar”, he said adding that a number of posts of specialists doctors and paramedics are lying vacant in District Hospital Bandipora.
He said DH Bandipora is facing an acute shortage of staff as 40 posts are lying vacant for the past many years. Different categories of consultants, medical officers, paramedical staff are among the vacant posts in the district hospital.
He pointed out that the aforesaid SDH Bandipora is not equipped adequately to tackle with emergent situations and in case of emergency people are forced to shift patients to SKIMS and other hospitals in Srinagar as no specialist doctor is available to handle the cases locally.
Lone urged upon LG administration to issue necessary instructions to Commissioner Secretary Health to fill upon all the vacant posts in District Hospital Bandipora and also sought sufficient supply of medicine in the hospital.(PTK).
