NARCOTICS SMUGGLING BID FOILED ONE HELD WITH POPPY STRAW AT BANIHAL

press rust of kashmir | Banihal : Continuing the relentless war against the drugs abuse subdivision BANIHAL, today on 24/08/2021, foiled a narcotics smuggling bid in Banihal and arrested one persons with poppy straw like substance.
During the routine checking police party at T chowk Banihal intercepted one Truck bearing Registration No Jk 02AJ4148 for checking which was on its way from Srinagar towards Jammu. During the process of checking Approximately 30 Kg Poppy Straw was recovered from the possession of the accused person.
The accused involved in the case has been identified as driver Ramesh singh S/O Hem Raj R/O Kither Kahbi Jagir Ramban who has been arrested on the spot.
It is pertinent to mention here that during the preliminary questioning the accused has confessed that he was illegally transporting the contraband substance towards Jammu.

In this connection a Case FIR No 160/2021 U/S 08/15 NDPS Act stands registered at P/S Banihal and investigation set into motion.
The Arrest has been made by PSI GOURAV SUMBRIA under the close supervision of SHO Banihal Nayeem-ul-haq and SDPO Banihal Ashish Gupta JKPS*.
