China’s tent seen on India’s territory in Demchok Ladakh

SRINAGAR July 26 (PTK):: China has set up tents on the Indian side of Charding Nala in Demchok in eastern Ladakh. Senior officials have described the people living in these tents as “alleged citizens” and said that India is asking them to go back, but they still remain in those tents.

News Website Groundreport.in reported that senior government officials says, that Demchok is the area where there has been a face-off between the Indian Army and the soldiers of China in the past.

During the India-China Joint Working Committee meetings in the 1990s, both sides agreed that Demchok and Trig Heights were disputed points on the Line of Actual Control. After the exchange of maps, more such areas were identified about which both sides have different perceptions. On this basis, 10 other areas of LAC have also been identified.

After the border dispute started last year, five more such points were identified in eastern Ladakh on which there is a standoff. Officials said that these five points of the standoff are KM120 in Galwan Valley, PP15 and PP17A in Shyok Sula area, Rechin La, and Rezang La.

China had proposed the 12th round of Corps Commander-level talks on Monday, but India asked it to be postponed by a few days in view of Kargil Day on July 26. Sources said that the Corps Commander level talks can now take place in the first week of August. (PTK)
