To mourn Srinagar killing, Pulwama, Shopian shuts
PULWAMA DEC 31 (PTK) :People in large numbers are visiting the families of the three slain youth in Shopian and Pulwama Districts who were killed during an encounter with Government Forces on Wednesday in Srinagar’s Lawaypora area.
Locals said that women and men, in large queues despite restrictions are visiting the families of the slain Zubair Ahmad Lone in the Turkawangam area of Shopian, Ajaz Maqbool Ganai in Putrigam and Athar Mushtaq in Bellow of Pulwama.
The businesses in the two districts of South Kashmir are observing a complete shutdown, while traffic is heavily off the roads, The Awantipora is also observing a complete shutdown against the killings.
Pertinently Maj Gen HS Sahi on Wednesday said that cordon was laid in Srinagar after specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
He said that we had received specific inputs that militants are planning for major strike in Srinagar.
On specific inputs, a building near national highway was cordoned and hiding militants were asked to surrender.
He said that one among the trio came out to surrender m, however other two threw grenades at forces due to which he returned back and got killed.
He said that it is major success to forces and these militants were planning to attack in Srinagar ahead of Republic day. (PTK)
