13 police men killed this year in line of duty:- DGP Dilbagh Singh
Sarinagar Oct, 21 (PTK) Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Wednesday advocated a “comprehensive reforms” for dealing with the radicalization of youth and called for a regular monitoring of social media content to prevent its misuse by the enemies.
On the eve of police commemoration day at Zewan, Srinagar, the LG Sinha said that “militancy sponsored by the neighbour” has been effectively dealt by the police force. “Our police force is playing a significant role in tackling militancy. In J&K, every school, institution and office must know the role police is playing. People should now that if they sleep, it is because of the policemen who remain awake throughout the night on streets,” he said.
The LG hailed police for effectively dealing with the law and order challenges. “I am glad that in the two years, policemen from J&K have been awarded 684 medals.
He said the mesage from the police should be clear and loud that “Begunah ko mat Chedo, Gunahgaar ko mat chodo (don’t touch the innocents and dont leave the culprits).”
According to Press trust of kashmir News agency,He said the police and administration is committed to resolve the issues confronted by the policemen and the families of “martyrs of cops.
Meanwhile Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh Wednesday said that 40 security forces personnel including 13 cops were killed this year in line of duty in the UT.
“From September 1, 2019 to October 31 2020, 13 police men and 27 other security forces personnel were killed in militancy and other violence related incidents. The recent causality is that of an inspector Muhammad Ashraf of Anantnag,” the DGP said .
He said police commemoration day is being observed since October 21, 1959 when ten CRPF men lost their lives fighting Chinese forces in Ladakh.
He said families of police martyrs are being provided with the due compensation and morale the next of kin of slain cops is high. “I met the family members of slain inspector Muhammad Ashraf and his daughter told me that she wants to keep the mission of her father alive,” the J&K Police chief said. He said that police are committed to bring normalcy in J&K and are working professionally on all fronts.(PTK)
