Covid-19:- Lawyer, elderly lady die in JK, toll 23

 

SRINAGAR (PTK) more deaths were reported due to covid-19in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, taking the overall death toll in Union Territory to 23 on Monday

Officials while confirming the fresh deaths due to Coronavirus said that one each patients from Jammu and Kashmir divisions who died a few days back were tested positive for Novel Coronavirus on Monday.

An official said that an Income Tax lawyer from Jammu, who died on Sunday morning in a hospital in winter capital, has been tested positive for Coronavirus.

A resident of Trikuta Nagar area of Jammu, the lawyer was undergoing treatment for some other ailments in ASCOMS Batra hospital of Jammu where he breathed his last on Sunday morning.

“After his death, sample for Coronavirus were taken, the report of which was declared  positive on Sunday evening,” official sources within health department said.

They added that administration has followed Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) following his death and his active contacts have been kept under close monitoring.

Meanwhile, Dr Salim Khan Nodal officer for covid-19 at GMC Srinagar said that a 65 year old lady from Bugam, Kulgam was admitted in SMHS Hospital Srinagar on 22-5-2020 with Bilateral pneumonia. She died next day and her body was kept in mortuary of GMC Srinagar.

He added that her reports came positive for covid-19 on Monday.

The fresh deaths in Jammu and Kashmir has taken the total death toll across the Union Territory up to 23(PTK)
