SRINAGAR, JULY 25 (PTK): Whether it is art, achievement in sports, education, trying hands on some software or music, the conflict tag of Kashmir ensures that few, if any, positives coming from the Valley see the light of the day. Be it Roshan Illahi, who used music as a tool to protest the killings of 2010 or Yawar Abdal, who re-invent Kashmiri music and telling the Sufi poetry written in Kashmir to the world.
Meet Basit Ali Rajput, an aspiring poet from Hawal, Srinagar. His life changed a year before when he started writing poetry and making poetry videos on TikTok to which he got positive response and his videos got widely shared in India and Pakistan. Since then, Basit continued to write poetry, make videos of his poetry which later made him trending on social media mostly Instagram and TikTok.
Basit grew in a place where music gets respect. Basit was determined to present his personal issues most probably love failure in his poetry. Basit was motivated by his friends and his fans to start singing and make it a career option.
Inspired by Parvaaz Muhammad Muneem, Basit recently came with his first song “Haqeeqat” which is getting a positive response from the valley youth and has become a instant hit in Kashmir valley. The song is based on the Basit’s real life story which Basit has used in the song.
Basit dedicates his success to his fans and said that he may had given up if the video that he posted on TikTok had not gone viral. “I tried to express a tragedy of my life, pain and sorrows through my poetry and it’s all because of it, I am known by some people. I dedicate my success to my fans who gave me so much love and it’s all because of them I am known now.” says Basit. (PTK)
