Amid shutdown, protests rock Magam town

SRINAGAR, (PTK): Hundreds of local on Sunday afternoon took out a protest demonstration in Magam town of central Kashmir’s Budgam district to demand stern punishment for the person involved in rape of a three year old girl in Sumbal.
The protest demonstration was held on Srinagar-Gulmarg road near Magam market. Holding posters and banners in hands, the protestors demanded strong punishment to the person involved in the crime. The protestors were seen shouting slogans like “Justice for our sister” , “Aiman hum sharminda hai, teray mujrim zinda hai”.
While Talking to PTK, a protestor said that they will continue to protest till the person involved in crime will not be hanged. “We know what happens, police will arrest the culprit and later he will be released. Rapes will continue to happen and rapists will live their normal life, we won’t let it happen. We will protest till the rapist will get stern punishment”, said a protestor.
Meanwhile, a complete shutdown was observed in the town. All shops and business establishments were closed in the town while traffic remain disturbed for some time.
