Police Arrests Drug Peddler in Anantnag; Charas Powder Recovered

Anantnag, May 14 (PTK): Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday arrested an alleged drug peddler in Anantnag and recovered contraband substance from his possession during a naka checking operation.

Officials said a police party from Police Post Sangam intercepted a suspect at Halmulla during routine checking and apprehended him on the spot.

The accused was identified as Arif Ahmad Sheikh, son of Mohammad Sulaiman Sheikh, a resident of Delhi presently residing at Sangam Juggi Tents.

During the search operation, police recovered around 240 grams of charas powder-like substance from his possession.

In this connection, FIR No. 126/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Bijbehara and further investigation has been initiated to ascertain forward and backward linkages related to the narcotics network.

Police reiterated its commitment towards eliminating the drug menace and appealed to the public to cooperate by sharing information regarding narcotics-related activities for building a safer and drug-free society.(PTK)
