PD&SJ Ganderbal Chairs 2nd Under Trial Review Committee Meeting of 2026

Ganderbal, May 13 (PTK): Principal District & Sessions Judge (PD&SJ) and Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Abdul Nasir on Tuesday chaired the second Under Trial Review Committee (UTRC) meeting of 2026 in Ganderbal to review cases of undertrial prisoners and ensure timely access to justice.

The meeting was held at the office chamber of the Principal District & Sessions Judge and attended by District Magistrate Jatin Kishore, Senior Superintendent of Police Sudhanshu Dhama, Secretary DLSA Sheikh Babar Hussain, Public Prosecutors, police officers and jail authorities.

During the meeting, the committee reviewed the cases of nine undertrial prisoners shortlisted by the Secretary District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal for consideration. Officials said that one undertrial prisoner had already been recommended for release in an earlier UTRC meeting.

After detailed deliberations, the committee recommended the release of six undertrial prisoners.

The meeting highlighted the commitment of the District Legal Services Authority towards safeguarding the rights of undertrial prisoners and ensuring access to justice for vulnerable and marginalized sections of society.

Officials stated that the recommendations of the committee would be forwarded to the competent authorities for further necessary action.

The District Legal Services Authority reiterated its resolve to continue working for protection of legal rights and speedy justice delivery.(PTK)
