5-Day Workshop on Early Warning Signs of Substance Abuse Concludes at GDC Marh
Jammu, May 09 (PTK): A five-day workshop on “Early Warning Signs of Substance Abuse” concluded successfully at Government Degree College Marh on Friday with a series of awareness activities aimed at educating students about the dangers of drug addiction.
The workshop featured awareness drives, essay writing competitions, pledge ceremonies and interactive sessions designed to sensitise students about behavioural and psychological indicators of substance abuse and its harmful impact on individuals and society.
The programme encouraged students to stay away from drugs and actively contribute towards building a drug-free society.
The concluding day featured a Parent-Teacher Meet focused on early warning signs of drug addiction, which was attended by over 20 parents along with faculty members. Discussions during the session emphasised the role of parental guidance, early identification of behavioural changes and collective responsibility in preventing substance abuse among youth.
The valedictory session included awareness lectures by Imtiyaz Shahid and Malti Rajput, who highlighted the importance of timely identification of substance abuse and coordinated community efforts to combat the menace.
At the conclusion of the programme, all participants took a pledge to remain drug-free and promote a healthy and addiction-free society.
The workshop was organised by the College Wellbeing and Anti-Substance Abuse Cell in collaboration with the Department of Education and the Students’ Wellness Committee.(PTK)
