BJP leader Altaf Thakur hails Rs 10,637 Cr Road & Tunnel Projects for J&K
Srinagar, June 24(PTK): Senior BJP leader and party’s Jammu and Kashmir spokesperson, Advocate Altaf Thakur, today hailed the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for approving a landmark Rs 10,637 crore worth of infrastructure projects under the 2025–26 National Highway Action Plan for Jammu and Kashmir.
While addressing a press conference in Srinagar, Thakur extended heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for what he called a “historic boost to J&K’s connectivity and economy.”
“This is Modi Ji’s vision turning into reality. These projects are not just cement and steel—they represent progress, prosperity, and peace for the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” Thakur said.
Among the key sanctioned projects are:
Peer-Ki-Gali Tunnel on NH-701A – Rs 3,830 crore
Sadhna Tunnel on NH-701 – Rs 3,330 crore
Zaznar–Shopian section on NH-701A – Rs 852 crore
4-lane Flyover from Lal Chowk to Parimpora – Rs 700 crore
Trehgam–Chamkote section of NH-701 – Rs 966 crore
4-lane Magam Flyover on Narbal–Gulmarg NH-701A – Rs 445 crore
Qazigund Bypass – Rs 95 crore
2-lane bridge over Rambiara at Shopian (NH-444) – Rs 71 crore
Thakur said these projects, alongside various other road safety initiatives, will decongest traffic, enhance tourism, improve inter-regional trade, and bring long-awaited development to far-flung areas.
“Under PM Modi and Minister Gadkari’s leadership, Kashmir is seeing development that was only promised for decades but never delivered. Now it is becoming a reality,” he said, calling the projects a “game changer for the UT.” (PTK)
