Candlelight Protests Held Across Ganderbal to Condemn Pahalgam Terror Attack
Ganderbal, April 23 (PTK): In a strong display of unity and condemnation, residents of Ganderbal held candlelight protests across the district on Tuesday evening, denouncing the recent terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam.
The peaceful demonstrations were held in Sonamarg, Kangan, and at the iconic Clock Tower in Duderhama, drawing participation from all sections of society. Civil society members, traders, students, and youth gathered to mourn the victims and demand justice for the lives lost in the senseless act of violence.
Holding candles and placards, the protestors expressed their grief and outrage, calling the attack a cowardly attempt to disturb the peace and harmony of the Kashmir Valley. Chants for peace and unity echoed through the air as demonstrators urged authorities to take stringent action against those behind the attack.
“This is not just an attack on tourists—it is an attack on Kashmiriyat, our tradition of welcoming guests with warmth and dignity,” said one protestor in Duderhama. “We stand united in our condemnation and reaffirm our commitment to peace.”
The protests also served as a reminder of the Valley’s deep-rooted culture of brotherhood and hospitality. Protestors emphasized the need to preserve this spirit and not allow such incidents to create divisions within society.
Authorities have lauded the peaceful nature of the protests and assured that investigations are underway to bring the perpetrators to justice.
The candlelight vigils concluded with prayers for the victims and a collective pledge to stand against violence in all its forms. (PTK)
