5- Day basic civil defence training programme commences at GDC Neeli Nallah

PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR UDHAMPUR, JULY 28:  Government Degree College Neeli Nallah Udhampur, NSS Unit “Sewak”, in collaboration with Civil Defence & SDRF Organisation, J&K (UT) today organized five  Day ‘Basic Civil Defence Training’ commenced  in the premises of the College.

The training camp commenced with the reading of the message of Commandant General Homeguards /Civil Defence & SDRF H. K. Lohia. In his message, he said that the Trainings, Rehearsals Demonstration of Civil Defence measures during peace time are aimed to prepare and mould youth for different constructive and nation building activities, which also include providing assistance to the administration in undertaking social and welfare services and in the prevention/mitigation of natural or man-made disasters as well as in post- disaster response and relief operations.

Rohit Kansal,  Principal Secretary to Govt. HED, J&K (UT), in his message said, Civil Defence measures are designed to deal with emergency conditions, protect the public and restore vital services and facilities that have been destroyed or damaged by disasters.

Dr. Satinder Kaur, Principal of the College is the convenor of the 5 days maiden camp. The camp was inaugurated by Dr. Satinder Kaur, Principal, organizers and trainers. She emphasized that such training of the youth is very important for the holistic development of the college students and youth as a whole towards nation building. This not only prepares them for lending a hand during the time of disaster but also makes them responsible towards the society.

 Swatantra Dev Kotwal (Spokesperson), Dy.Chief Warden, SDRF, in his lecture explained the objective of Civil Defence training to the volunteers in time of disaster.

 Anuroop Sharma (Dy.SP) briefed them about the aim of SDRF training. The session   ended with an interactive session where students actively participated.

Dr. Radha Rani (NSS PO) was the coordinator of the programme. Prof. Swati Dutt and Prof. Shaista Yasmeen were the organizers of the programme. The formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Radha Rani.
