24-year-old youth drowns while taking bath in Bandipora’s Sumlar

Bandipora, July 14(PTK): A 24-year old youth drowned while taking bath in a stream in Srinder village of Sumlar in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

Locals told PTK that Mohammed Imran Chopan, son of Gulam Mohammad Chopan, a resident of Ranghama, Sumlar drowned in a nearby stream while he was taking bath today afternoon.

Soon after the news spread, hundreds of locals assembled at the spot while teams of police and local administration immediately started an operation to retrieve the body of the deceased, they said.

A police officer said the youth’s body was retrieved from the nallah in the evening added that the actual reason of the drowning couldn’t be confirmed yet.

He said that after conducting all legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his family for last rites.(PTK)
