24 rescued, Three persons washed away in Kuthua flash floods

Press Trust of Kashmir | Srinagar : At least 24 persons were rescued while three people were washed away in a flash flood amid heavy rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district, officials said.

 

An official said that acting on reliable information that few more persons were stuck in the sudden flash flood in the jurisdictional area of PS Hiranagar near Tarnah river and its adjoining areas.

 

He said that acting swiftly, a police team of PS Hiranagar led by Insp. Sunil Kumar SHO PS Hiranagar under the close supervision of SDPO Border Sh. Pankaj Soodan JKPS in its joint effort with SDRF team, SOG Kathua alongwith locals rushed on spot and conducted search operations in various places adjacent to Tarnah Nallah.

 

During Search police team was able to rescue 19 persons from two locations i.e Spalwan & Tarnah area.Thus, overall 24 persons were rescued by the Kathua Police in its joint effort with SDRF team and SOG kathua.

 

However, three more persons were washed away in flash flood this morning namely Dev Raj S/o Nasib Chand Age 50 Yrs., Ravi Kant @bablu S/o Jugal Kishore and Kamal Singh S/o Punjab Singh Age 60 yrs. all R/o Sallan out of which only one dead body of Ravi Kant @bablu S/o Jugal Kishore is recovered from Gurah Sarkari whereas the search of other two persons is going on

 

The three were washed away in the district’s Tarnah nallah, they said.:-PTK.
