Young sprout writer from Pattan inscribes premiere Poetry book “The Fire Of Joy”

Baramulla, 20 Oct (PTK)  : A 22-year-old young burgeon writer from a eminent family in vicinity , Razia farooq has written her ist poetry book “The Fire Of Joy “.

 

Razia Farooq from a remote village khargam Pattan area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, Khargam a village environed by the dense apple orchards and paddy fields spread over thousands of hectares.

 

In a candid talk with Press Trust Of Kashmir (PTK) , Razia said I vehement to do become something different , i was passionate about writing, paintings and calligraphy since childhood .

 

From securing a Bachelor’s degree in science in GDC Pattan to doing post graduation in Gender studies at University of Kashmir and now being a visual artist and author of a book, Razia has truly come a long way.

 

“It’s not just about interest but my first aim was to compile a book of poems. I also write articles , columns and am fond of drawing landscape, islamic paintings and currently i am working on a book that will be completed soon,” says razia.

 

Sharing her journey from student and now as an author, razia said she started to work on the book during COVID-19 lockdown this year and completed it in these 3 months of the pandemic.

 

“During the lockdown, I observed my young cousins and family members engrossed in their smartphones in the virtual life when they needed to reflect on the real happenings instead,” razia recalled while talking to this Correspondent.

 

“It made me sad that the youth, supposed to be the future leaders/doctors/teachers were wasting their time in online games that’s of no gain would for them nor for the community at large”.

 

The debutant poetess further consolidated that noticing about the consequence of wasting time on surfing internet, online games and in absence of daily personal contact with relatives and friends during lockdown period The idea of writing a book enthused my mind.

 

She said, in the book, I’ve focused more on Dowry, a crying daughter, women violence and some poems in the book reflects discrimination with women in the society, I just tried to put forth some ill issues faced by women’s despite feminist laws .

 

“She has been passionately engaged in writing and artwork since childhood, with a penchant for drawing and painting, she sailed towards visual art at a very tender age, since then she developed herself into an artist of repute”, said a family member.

 

She has no formal training in art and painting, the nuances were picked up by herself and fine-tuned his craft through experimentation, said her brother.

 

Islamic paintings including calligraphy has always fascinated me, i feel peace when i write Allah’s name and verses of Qur’an in paintings, she said, adding that i am thankful to my Parents who supported me everytime and whenever I was in dire need of something for my paintings or during the publications of book, they supported me well in every aspect, said razia.

 

I want to express passionate love for the couch as they are used as tool to express inner thoughts of my life they impart understanding to the feelings.
