World’s highest rail bridge set to complete big engineering milestone
Jammu Mar 19 (PTK) :World’s highest railway bridge is under construction in the Reasi area if Jammu. A dream project of thousands of engineers working on it and is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
“This bridge being the highest has a lot of challenges. It is 1.315 kilometres long and has another small bridge of 700-800 metres attached to it which makes a total of around 2 kilometres. It is 359 metres above the bed level and it’s pylon can carry a weight of 37 ton.” Chief Engineer and In charge of the project, MM Malik said
“The bridge has almost touched both the ends – Katra or Jammu end and Kashmir end. It’s pylons are the main weight holding parts. The bridge can go through all the main natural calamities which includes earthquakes and wind with upto 264 kmph.” He added
Malik expressed his pride and happiness regarding the project. He said that he never thought his degree would make him work on one of the largest project of the World.
“There are so many engineers in the world. The degree is 1% studies and 99% field work. Working on a National project is like a dream come true and it gives me honour to call myself the In charge of it.” He said (PTK)
