Water scarcity in Zalangam Kokernag, residents block road and stages protest

Anantnah, July 24 (PTK): Residents of Sheikh Pora Zalangam in Kokernag area of south Kashmirs Anantnag district on Wednesday blocked Sinthan Larnoo road for half an hour to protest against the water scarcity in the area for the last two months.

The protesters raised slogans against the public health engineering department for their alleged failure to provide them drinking water.

“The officials concerned had been apprised of the drinking water problem but nothing has been done to mitigate their suffering,” said an Protestor.

“Locals added  However, the officials give us false assurances instead of a valid reason for the crisis,”

The blockade was lifted after Station House Officer (SHO) Kokernag, Sabdar Ahmad reached the spot and assured the protesters of an early solution to their problem.
