Untimely snowfall has wreaked havoc on farmers & orchardists: Muntazir Mohi-ud-din

‘Government should provide compensation for the losses incurred’

Srinagar, Oct 23(PTK): Apni Party State Secretary and District President Budgam Muntazir Mohi-ud-din on Saturday demanded for immediate compensations to the farmers and orchardists who have suffered huge losses due to the recent heavy snowfall and incessant rains in Kashmir division.

In a statement issued here, Muntazir described the untimely snowfall as extremely lamentable while saying that the farmers have to bear immense economic burdens in view of the harsh inclement weather.

“The situation of farmers and orchardists, especially in district Budgam, has been grim for the past several years and now this natural disaster has further shattered their hopes and added to the existing woes. Their crops have been buried under snow while numerous trees have cleft asunder,” he said.

Muntazir appealed to the district administration Budgam to dispatch assessment making teams on ground zero in order to help out the distressed farmers in this hour of despair.

“It is highly necessary that the government provides the requisite ex-gratia to the hardworking farmers and orchardists who need to be supported during these pressing times. I hope that the administration will resonate with their demands and save them from an impending peril,” he remarked.

He also asserted that the crop loans availed by the farmers in Budgam must be given a further extension in relation to the monthly repayments. Besides, he also demanded for supplementary credits to these farmers so that they cope up with this prevailing misfortune.(PTK).
