Two Policemen of north killed in south laid to rest amid sobs

Baramulla, Aug 29 (PTK): Two Policemen among four who were killed in an ambush by militants at Shopian area in south Kashmir were laid to rest here in native district Baramulla.
Constable by rank Muhammad Iqbal Mir (belt number 660/SPN) son of Abdul Rehman Mir of Hudur Chaman Baramulla was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard at Hudar Chanam here.

Unmarried Iqbal is survived by three brothers among whom two more are working in Police Department and the third one is Nambardar and a mother.
Another slain identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Mir (belt number 763/SPN) son Muhammad Malik Mir of Rafiabad Baramulla was also laid to rest amid sobs and mourns at his ancestral graveyard at watergam.

Unmarried Ahmad was the lone bread earner of the family who left behind one younger brother, sister and parents.
Other two policemen killed in the same attack were identified as constable Javid Ahmad Bhat (belt number 806/SPN) son of Nazir Ahmad Bhat of Panzrat HMT Srinagar, constable, and SPO Adil Ahmad Bhat son Manzoor Ahmad Bhat (belt number 395/SPN) of Zawoora Shopian.
Soon after this incident whole area was cordoned off to nab the attackers.
Later in a statement to Local News Agency GNS Jaish-e-Mohammad claimed responsibility for Shopian attack, saying that its cadres along with that of Hizbul Mujahideen carried out the fatal attack that left four policemen dead on the spot.

JeM spokesman said that it was a joint attack by cadres of its outfit and that of Hizbul Mujahideen. He said that the militants also decamped with three rifles of the policemen. (PTK)
