Two militants killed in Shopian encounter

 

Dhopian Oct,20 (PTK) Two militants have been killed in an encounter that raged between government forces and militants in Melhoora area of Zainapora belt in South kashmir’s Shopian district.

A senior police officer said that two unidentified militants have been killed so far in exchange of fire so far while as search operation is on in the area.

He added that one militant was killed on Monday evening while as one was killed on Tuesday and bodies of both militants along with ammunition has been recovered.

On Monday evening, operation was halted due to darkness and cordon was tightened to ensure that no trapped militant can flee and operation resumed on Tuesday morning, he added.

Pertinently an official said that an encounter broke out in the area after a joint team of Police, army’s 55 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.

He said that as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them which was retaliated triggering an encounter.

Internet service have been snapped in the area and search operation is on.

With the killing of two more militants, the toll of militants killed this year has reached to 186 in J&K.(PTK)
