Two Hunters goes missing after avalanche hits Forests In Lolab

Kupwara,Jan 23 (PTK): Two persons, who had gone for hunting, were gone missing after a snow avalanche swept them in Lolab area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Wednesday afternoon.

Reporting reaching PTK said that three persons had gone for hunting in the area, the top forest area of Rang warnoe which connects Lolab and Bandipora forest areas today.

As they were moving to different locations, snow avalanche struck and trapped the group comprising of three members among two brothers. The one among them tried to rescue them but got trapped and somehow managed their way out. He ultimately traveled several kilometres to inform locals and police about the incident.

“One among the three hunters namely Abdul Rashid Hajam son of Mohammad Yonis hajam reached home and informed police and locals he too were injuries, he said that avalanche hit them when they were moving in the forests” said a police official.

The two who are trapped and are feared dead has been identified as Mohammad Din Hajam son of Najab din Hajam and Bashir Ahmad Hajam son of Mohammad Yonis Hajam bothe residents of rang warnow zabli.

SSP Kupwara Ambarker Din while confirming the incident said that a rescue team comprising of police and Army personnel has been kept ready for rescue operation (PTK).
