Twenty-seven candidates have filed their nomination forms to contest the upcoming Assembly Elections in District Anantnag

Anantnag,27 August:  According to official sources, 27 candidates have submitted their nomination forms in two key constituencies in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district: Anantnag Main (44) and Anantnag West. These candidates filed their forms with the respective Returning Officers in the district today. Specifically, 14 candidates have filed for the Anantnag West constituency, while 13 candidates have filed for Anantnag Main. Among the 27 candidates, there is one female candidate who has filed her nomination from the Anantnag West constituency.

The candidates who have filed their nomination forms include NC candidate Abdul Majeed Larmi, PDP candidate Sofi Gaffar, BJP candidate Mohd Rafiq Wani, APNI party candidate Hilal Ahmad Shah, Congress candidate Peerzada Mohd Syeed, BJP candidate Advocate Wajahat, Independent candidate Peerzada Mansoor Hussain, PDP candidate Dr. Mehboob Beigh, DPAP candidate Meer Altaf Hussain, DPAP candidate Bilal Ahmad Deva, and several other independents.

The Anantnag district, comprising seven Assembly Constituencies, allows candidates to submit their nominations until August 27. The nomination papers will be scrutinized on August 28 by the Returning Officers. Candidates may withdraw their nominations until August 30. The elections are scheduled to take place on September 18, 2024.

Anantnag district has a total voter count of 667,781, which includes 336,185 male voters, 331,592 female voters, and 4 transgender voters. A network of 844 polling stations has been set up across the district to accommodate the voters.
