Temporary Ban on Heavy Vehicles on Jammu-Srinagar Highway for Urgent Airstrip Repair

In an effort to facilitate urgent repair and up-gradation works on the airstrip stretch near Bijbehara, Anantnag along the Jammu-Srinagar Highway, authorities have issued a directive barring Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) from plying on April 1st and 2nd.

 

The decision, announced by the J&K Traffic Department, aims to ensure the smooth progress of repair activities without disruption from heavy traffic. HMVs, particularly load carriers, will not be permitted to travel between Srinagar and Jammu along NH-44 near Bijbehara, Anantnag during the specified timeframe.

 

According to an official statement, the movement of heavy motor vehicles will be suspended from 0400 hrs to 0700 hrs on April 1, 2024, and also on April 2, 2024. Truckers are strongly advised to refrain from journeying along the highway during these hours to facilitate the repair work effectively.

 

The temporary ban is crucial to expedite the repair and up-gradation of the airstrip stretch, ensuring the safety and efficiency of transportation along the Jammu-Srinagar Highway. Truckers are urged to plan their journeys accordingly and cooperate with the authorities during this period.

 

This temporary restriction underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure and ensuring the seamless flow of traffic, thereby prioritizing the safety and convenience of commuters traversing the vital Jammu-Srinagar route.
