Srinagar Police arrested 02 drug peddlers, contraband recovered*

Sarinagar Nov, 12 (PTK) Srinagar Police in its endeavours to eradicate drug menace from the city Srinagar, Police Party of Police Station Nowhatta during patrolling at Malkha Chowk stopped one bike for checking, bearing Regd. No. JK01U / 8310 going towards Nowhatta, but the motor cyclist tried to flee away and was nabbed tactfully.

An official said that on preliminary questioning he disclosed his particulars as Mohd Sharief Dar son of Gh Mohd Dar resident of Miskeen Bagh Riyaza Taing Khanyar Srinagar

On his personal search 255 grams of contraband (Charas) kept in polythene, was recovered from his possession. The recovered contraband (Charas) was sealed/seized on the spot and the bike was also seized, he said, adding that in this regard case FIR No. 52/2020, U/S 8/20 NDPS Act of P/S Nowhatta has been registered and investigation set into motion.

He added that another case, Police Station Nowhatta while performing naka checking at Khwaja Bazar Chowk stopped one passenger auto bearing Regd.No.JK01G-4383 on way to Khanyar for checking purposes, the driver of the passenger auto disclosed his particulars as Fayaz Ahmad Lone son of Mohd Amin resident of Bota Kadal Lalbazar Srinagar.

While conducting search, 60 tablets of (Alprazulam) Anxit 0.5 and 125 capsules of spasmoproxyvon plus were recovered from his possession. The contraband along with the passenger auto rickshaw were seized on the spot, he said, adding that in this regard case FIR No. 53/2020, U/S 8/21, 22 NDPS Act of P/S Nowhatta has been registered and investigation set into motion.

Both the accused were going to sell the intoxicant drugs among youth of the area. The investigation of both the cases is in progress, he said, adding that public has hailed the Police action against the drug peddlers in the area.(PTK)
