Srinagar-Leh road re-opens for Traffic after 30 hours.

SRINAGAR  JULY(PTK) The Srinagar-Leh highway re-opened for traffic on Saturday evening after a massive landslide occurred at Bonibagh area of Kangan on Friday afternoon.

Though there was no loss of life during the incident two residential houses and a shopping complex consisting at least 20 shops collapsed completely besides few vehicles also suffering damages.

An official of Border Roads Organisation (BRO), responsible for the maintenance of the highway said that put men and machinery into service soon after landslide hitted the area.

He said that it took around 30 hours to clear the road and traffic started plying on the road at around 7 pm.

Locals have appreciated thr role of DDC Ganderbal, SDM kangan, beacon officials and police for clearing the road at an earliest.(PTK)
