She Hope Society with CMO Ganderbal and CRC organizes vaccination camp for People with Disabilities
GANDERBAL(PTK):- She Hope Society for Women Entrepreneurs in collaboration with Chief Medical Officer Ganderbal and Composite Regional Centre, Srinagar kick-started a Vaccination drive for People with Disabilities in the district Ganderbal today. The camp was organised at the head office of Hope Disability Centre Wayil, Ganderbal.
About 100 people with Disabilities were vaccinated in the camp. The drive will be taken to other tehsils of Ganderbal as well such as Kanga, Lar, Wakura, etc.
On this occasion, Deputy Superintendent of Police from Headquarters Dr. Majid also distributed wheelchairs among children with disabilities.
People with disabilities often face the added problems of being unable to reach vaccination centres due to a lack of transport or no ramps at the centres for easy access.
Also, some people with disabilities have found it challenging to register for shots through the government-mandated smartphone app. In the light of these challenges, it becomes incumbent upon the government and social organisations to make the vaccination accessible to all the vulnerable sections of society.
The beneficiaries were provided transportation by Hope Disability Centre from their respective home to the vaccination site and back to save them any inconvenience.
It is relevant to mention here that India faces a huge task in inoculating its 1.3 billion people, partly due to the logistical difficulties of reaching remote areas and also skepticism about the shots. India was hit hard by a surge of coronavirus infections in April and May but there are signs the worst could be over(PTK)
