Sakeena Itoo Inaugurates Shaheed Wali Mohammad Itoo Memorial Cricket Tournament at DH Pora

Kulgam, May 10 (PTK): Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education Sakeena Itoo on Saturday inaugurated the Shaheed Wali Mohammad Itoo Memorial Cricket Tournament at DH Pora in Kulgam, reiterating the government’s commitment towards strengthening sports infrastructure and creating opportunities for talented youth across Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing a large gathering on the occasion, the Minister highlighted the transformative role of sports in shaping a healthy and progressive society.

“Sports not only foster discipline, teamwork and physical fitness but also serve as a powerful medium to engage youth positively and keep them away from social evils,” she said.

Sakeena Itoo reiterated that the government is committed to developing sports infrastructure and ensuring wider opportunities for budding sportspersons, particularly in rural and far-flung areas of the Union Territory.

She assured that every possible support would be extended to encourage talented youth and promote sports culture across Jammu and Kashmir.

The Minister also interacted with players and organisers and appreciated their efforts in successfully organising the tournament. She encouraged participating teams to play with true sportsmanship and use sports as a platform for personal growth and community development.

The tournament, organised in memory of late Shaheed Wali Mohammad Itoo, witnessed enthusiastic participation from local youth, sports lovers, civil society members and prominent citizens from different parts of the district.

The inaugural match attracted huge public enthusiasm, with spectators cheering teams displaying remarkable talent and competitive spirit on the field.(PTK)
